No one’s quite sure what happened to James Dean’s Porsche—or at least what was left of it after his fatal car accident in 1955. After the accident, the car was purchased by famed designer George Barris, who owned it until 1960.
In 1960, the car was sold to two racing enthusiasts who used the engine and chassis to build a race car. As if doomed from the start, one of them was killed in another racing accident.
After this incident, the remains of James Dean’s Porsche were locked in a container but mysteriously disappeared. To this day, the current location of the Porsche remains unknown.
However, the transaxle of the vehicle recently resurfaced. As of 2017, it’s on display at the Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you want to see it, admission is $48.
