That’s not an odd question at all! Electric cars store their energy in the battery. Unlike combustion engine cars, there is no fuel tank, but the battery is able to retain charge and therefore “store” energy for later use.
Electric cars have a completely different configuration than traditional combustion engine vehicles. Similar to the way your smartphone or laptop stores electric energy so you can use it while it’s not plugged in, EVs are able to use the stored energy to power the motor(s) in the vehicle.
Depending on the density of the battery pack, some EVs are able to go longer without needed to charge as often. Similar to an engine, the age of a battery, as well as the health of the battery will determine its efficiency. EV owners are encouraged to take care of their EV battery to ensure it lasts long.
