Where did the name Cadillac come from?

My father used to work for Cadillac and so did my grandfather. I didn’t have the same luck, but I’m still a huge fan of the Cadillac brand. I wanted to impress my father with some trivial knowledge about Cadillac. So where did the Cadillac name come from?

The Cadillac name comes from Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, who was the founder of the City of Detroit. A French military leader, businessman, and trader, Cadillac founded Detroit on July 24, 1701, making it one of the oldest cities in the Midwest.
Cadillac was founded on August 22, 1902, with the founders choosing the name Cadillac to pay homage to Detroit—the first and only place that Cadillac vehicles have been manufactured.
If you want to impress your father with more than just trivial knowledge, you might want to buy a Cadillac. However, insurance can get rather expensive. So while you’re shopping around, make sure to use the
