We definitely agree with you there—Alfa Romeos are very pretty vehicles.
The name Alfa Romeo comes in part from an acronym of its original Italian name and the last name of former company head, Nicola Romeo. The acronym, Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, roughly translates to Lombardian car factory, with Anonima referring to its anonymous investors.
Here are some other interesting facts about the Alfa Romeo brand:
  • The company was founded in 1910 after Cavalier Ugo Stella acquired Societa Italiana Automobili Darracq
  • The name changed to Alfa Romeo (from the original A.L.F.A.) in 1915
  • Though the factory originally produced cars in Naples, it was later moved to Portella (near Milan)
  • The Alfa Romeo badge logo was designed after a crest above Castello Sforzesco’s door in Milan
