Where can I test drive an electric car?

I’m interested in eventually purchasing an EV, but I’ve been hearing some reviews from people saying it feels different when you drive it. Something with the braking makes it a bit of a learning curve. Where can I test drive an electric car?

Great question! Most dealerships that sell EVs should have the option to test drive any of their vehicles. If not, perhaps a friend with an EV or a rental place that offers electric cars may be a good option.
Electric cars take a bit of getting used to when driving, especially for the
regenerative braking
system which is ultimately your vehicle using the heat and friction from the brakes to transform it back into electricity to charge the battery. This, in conjunction with the instant acceleration, feels a bit odd at first but does become normal after a while.
One of the best ways to test drive a car is to ask a friend or a neighbor for a ride. This is close and personal, and they can give you honest advice (they’re usually not trying to sell you the car!) If you don’t know anyone with an EV, then a car rental may be a good fit.
This way you have longer access to the car so you can feel it out in different situations. Some auto shows also allow you to test drive some vehicles but you may have to sign up ahead of time.
