My sister and I are thinking about replacing her (very old) CR-V with a newer model. While I was helping her do research, it got me thinking about the manufacturing process. Where are Honda CR-Vs made?

Researching before you buy is an excellent way to prevent buyer’s remorse, especially when it comes to cars! Currently, most Honda CR-Vs are made in Greensburg, Indiana for the American market. But, some are made in Ohio or Canada, too.
Once you and your sister drive the new CR-V home, you can actually track the individual vehicle’s origins by
checking and decoding the Honda VIN
. A Honda CR-V’s vehicle identification number (or VIN) will usually be located in the driver’s door jamb or on the dashboard. It will also be listed in the Honda’s registration information.
When you find it, pay attention to the following digits:
- Digit 1 tells you the country of origin. 1,4, or 5 stands for the United States.
- Digit 11 tells you the assembly plant location. E stands for Greensburg, A or L stands for Ohio, and H stands for Ontario, Canada.
Be sure your sister knows she’ll also want to make sure her CR-V is well-protected with quality car insurance.
