When will the federal electric car tax credit expire for Honda?

I want to buy an EV from Honda, but I’m worried the federal electric car tax credit will expire before they even release one! When will the tax credit expire for Honda?

While Honda does have a few hybrid options available, you’re right in noting that the brand known for making affordable, reliable cars has yet to release a fully-electric car in U.S. markets.
While the tax credit isn’t set to expire until 2023, the brand could surpass the 200,000-unit threshold sooner than that due to sales of hybrid vehicles. The
all-electric Honda Prologue
isn’t slated to be released until 2024, and having already sold 158,787, the brand is likely to run out of EV tax credits before its release.
Currently, Honda’s 2022 options for hybrid cars include:
  • Honda Accord Hybrid
  • Honda CR-V Hybrid
  • Honda Insight
  • Acura NSX
You may not be able to get a federal tax credit on the 2024 Honda Prolouge, but there are other ways to save money on a new car. Download
