While many places across the globe are implementing policies to limit the production of cars that rely on

, whether or not there are plans to make a full switchover to electric-only cars
depends on where you live. A few examples of timelines are as follows:
- In April of 2022, California air quality officials released a proposal to require all new cars sold to be zero-emission vehicles by 2035.
- The U.S. government plans to end gas-powered vehicle purchases by 2035 and signed a nonbinding goal that 50% of new US car sales be electric by 2030.
- By 2026, US automakers will be required to raise the corporate average fuel economy of their fleets to 49 mpg.
- Lawmakers in Washington passed legislation adopting a target for the state to end the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2030.
- The European Union has proposed an effective ban on the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035.
While nothing is set in stone just yet, it appears that lawmakers across the world are pushing for EV adoption as a way to combat climate change.
