When I rent a car, how do I decline to buy the extra insurance?
Every time I rent a car, I feel forced to buy their insurance, but I already have my own insurance. I don't want to be on the hook for anything, but I also don't want to pay for coverage that I don't need. What should I do?

“It is very common to feel pressured by the rental car agency. They make a lot of money off the insurance and want to make a big sale. Here is how to be more prepared to say “”no”” next time.
Before you get to the rental agency, have your current insurance carrier send you either a binder letter or a copy of your policy declarations page. Both of these will show the coverage you currently are carrying on your policy.
You can also ask for a copy of the
car insurance
contract, precisely where it states that the current coverage will extend over to the rental car and the stipulations. Bring these things with you and you will have a much easier time declining the extra coverage you don’t need. “
