When did Ford buy Lincoln?

I grew up in Detroit, so I know that Lincoln has long been a part of the Ford Motor Company. However, with all the mergers and acquisitions in modern times, I’m not sure when the transaction actually occurred. When was Lincoln purchased by Ford?

You’re right that Lincoln has been part of Ford for a long time. Ford bought
Lincoln
on February 4, 1922 for $8 million—or about $141 million in today’s money—to save the Lincoln brand from bankruptcy. Since the purchase, Lincoln has remained the luxury arm of Ford and remains one of the most iconic luxury brands around the globe today.
Just after World War II, Ford merged Lincoln and
Mercury
into a single entity, which remained until 2010 when Ford ended the Mercury nameplate.
Despite the fact that Lincoln was once a leading maker of luxury sedans, the company only produces four SUVs today—mimicking the change in tastes of global consumers over the last decade or so.
