When am I required to pay my deductible in an accident?
Do I have to pay my deductible to get my car fixed if I'm not at fault? I was hit in an intersection. The other driver is at fault.

and collision insurance
, you are required to pay your deductible when you submit a claim with your insurance.The only time you aren’t required to pay that deductible is if someone else is at fault and their
property damage liability
will be covering the damage on your vehicle.Since the other driver is at fault, you should not be responsible for your deductible.
However if the other driver is
uninsured or underinsured
, you may need to submit a claim and pay your deductible to get your damage repaired. Your insurance may then try to collect your deductible back from the other driver to reimburse you.”View full answer
