What’s the best route from Chicago to Knoxville?
I want to take a trip to Knoxville to visit my boyfriend’s parents, but I’ve never driven that far south before. What’s the best route to take, and how long will I have to drive?

- Take I-95 E out of the city.
- Merge onto I-65 S.
- After you enter Kentucky, exit towards I-64 E.
- Continue onto I-75 S.
- Keep left onto I-275 S, then begin following the signs for Knoxville!
The drive should require you to be behind the wheel for about eight hours, depending on traffic. This means that you should stop to rest four times along the way to prevent cramping and to help prevent yourself from getting too tired.
