Hybrid is still a bit of a mystery at this point. Honda hasn’t had a hybrid Civic since 2015 and news of its rebirth is still relatively fresh. We don’t even know for sure that it will land in America for the 2023 model year.The Civic Hybrid is already on the streets of Europe, though, so we can get some sense of what the American model will have in store. Here are some key specs of the European Honda Civic Hybrid:
- 72-cell lithium-ion battery
- 2.0L Atkinson-cycle engine
- 181 horsepower
- 232 lb-ft of torque
- Fixed gear transmission
- EV, hybrid, and engine powertrain modes
- Eco, Normal, Sport, and Individual driver modes
We don’t know what trim levels will be offered, but Honda will likely stick with the same ones currently available on the 2022 Civic: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring.
Starting price is also unknown at this point, but hybrids are generally more expensive than their combustion engine brethren—a base model price of around $27,000 seems likely.
