What’s biturbo vs. twin turbo?

My wife and I are shopping for a new car and have come across some terms we don’t understand. Two of them are “biturbo” and “twin turbo.” What’s biturbo vs. twin turbo? And which is better?

The terms essentially describe the same thing: an engine with two turbos. “Bi” means two, as does “twin.”
Mercedes Benz
and some other companies use the less common term “biturbo,” perhaps as a way to differentiate themselves from their competition.
A turbo—which is short for turbochargers—consists of an air compressor and turbine. By compressing air and forcing it into the engine, the turbo helps give the engine more power. Therefore, you’ll likely see biturbos mostly on sports cars.
Best of luck on finding just the right car for you and your wife!
