Park Avenue was available in 1991. However, from 1978 to 1990, Park Avenue was a trim level for the Buick Electra model. So, your uncle probably had the high-end Buick Electra Park Avenue, which in its first year—1978—was distinguished by its premium sound, upgraded upholstery, and standard Buick 3800 V6 engine.
In 1990, the Park Avenue graduated to its own model and was first produced for the 1991 model year. It quickly became the flagship car for Buick.
Base models in the ‘90s included a 3.8-liter V6 engine and velour interior with an available leather upgrade. More and more features and options became available throughout the ‘90s including

- Dual-zone climate control
