With so many BMWs, it can be hard to keep them all straight. What year did the X3 xDrive28i first come out?

There are many
BMW
s with very similar names, so it can easily get confusing! The BMW X3 xDrive28i was first released as an available trim level in 2011 and remained in production until 2017.
A feisty four-door compact SUV, the
X3
has been part of the BMW lineup since 2004 and remains in production today—but its xDrive28i trim level only lasted 7 years.
The xDrive28i is powered by a 240-hp 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic manual shift mode. Standard equipment includes:
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Leatherette upholstery
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • HD radio
  • Bluetooth wireless connectivity
  • A USB adapter
  • BMW’s iDrive system
If you’re in the market for a used xDrive28i, you can expect to pay at least $20,000 for a 2017 model and up to about $30,000 if it’s got low mileage and is in great condition.
Of course, the BMW X3 is still available in different trims if you’d prefer to shop brand new. The 2022 model comes in a variety of trims—including the sDrive30i, the xDrive309, and the M40i—starting at $44,695.
