What speed is considered reckless driving in Pennsylvania?

Even though I speed regularly, I’ve managed to keep a clean record. However, my friend told me that I can get a reckless driving charge if I’m going too fast. What speed will earn you a reckless driving charge in Pennsylvania?

Great job on maintaining a clean driving record thus far! No set speed is considered reckless driving in
Pennsylvania
. Instead, the charge is entirely up to the discretion of the officer who pulls you over.
But as a general rule, you will almost always get a reckless driving ticket for going 31 mph or more over the speed limit. Even if you don’t, this will earn you an excessive speeding ticket that carries fines and a mandatory 15-day license suspension.
If you’re convicted of reckless driving, you also receive a misdemeanor on your permanent record. The charge is also accompanied by:
  • A $200 fine
  • Five points on your license
  • Mandatory six-month suspension of your license, which is the harshest penalty for reckless driving in the United States
If you receive a speeding ticket or reckless driving charge in Pennsylvania, your car insurance premiums are sure to increase as a result. But before you pay an exorbitant amount for coverage, use the
