I’m looking for a big vehicle, but I can only spend about $45,000. I also need something small enough to fit in my garage yet large enough to intimidate my daughter’s football-player boyfriend (I mean, he’s the team’s punter—but still). What size SUV is a Ford Edge?

With the Edge, you get an SUV that doesn’t feel dinky, but it isn’t so big that it feels like you’re driving a bus.

The Edge measures 188 inches in length and stands just a shade under 69 inches tall, which exceeds the Escape’s 180 inches in length and 66-inch height by fair margins. True, the Explorer does measure a whopping 198 inches long and stands more than 69 inches tall, but that might just be too big for your purposes.
