What should you do when driving on a four-lane freeway?

I’m new to driving and I’m a little nervous about taking the car on a big freeway. Is there anything you should do to stay safe when driving on a four-lane freeway?

Driving on the freeway can be intimidating—especially for beginners. But try not to worry. You can use these tips to make sure you’re driving safely on the freeway:
  • Enter at the right speed: People already on the freeway have the right of way. That said, it’s important to make your way up to the speed limit and check for oncoming traffic as you enter the freeway.
  • Know your lanes: While you’re driving on the freeway, keep to the right lane unless you’re passing traffic or making space for a car to safely access the freeway. Before passing a car, check your mirrors to make sure there’s no oncoming traffic.
  • Keep a safe distance: Use the three-second rule to make sure you’re leaving enough room between your car and the car in front of you. Mark a point on the road, then start counting once the car in front of you reaches that spot. If it takes you three seconds to reach that point, then you’re leaving a safe three seconds of space between you and the car in front.
Hopefully, these tips can help you stay safe on a four-lane freeway. But if you’re still nervous about driving on the freeway, consider taking a
