What should I know about the 2015 Nissan Leaf’s battery degradation?
I’m in the market for a new car and I’m thinking about buying a Nissan Leaf. Someone told me that I should make sure that the battery is in tip-top shape before I buy one. Is there anything I should know about battery degradation on the 2015 Leaf?

The 2015 Nissan Leaf isn’t known to have any particular issues regarding battery degradation, so you shouldn’t have to worry about defects, flaws, or recalls. However, you should check the bars of the battery
before you purchase a used car
or Leaf.The battery of the 2015 Nissan Leaf naturally degrades over time, and the bars located on the bottom right-hand side of the instrument cluster let you know how much life the battery has left. In total, the 2015 Leaf originally had 12 bars, but the number left depends on mileage and other external factors.
Keep in mind that the 2015 Nissan Leaf has a federally-mandated battery warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles—whichever comes first. As such, it will almost be at the end of its useful life. As a rule of thumb, try to find one with at least nine bars left.
