What should I do if my lender has no record of my car loan?
I financed a vehicle through the dealership, as they work with numerous regional and national banks. Today was supposed to be my first car loan payment, but I called the supposed lender, and they have no record of my loan. I'm not sure if the loan went through, if it was denied, or what happened. What should I do now? Can I get my money back?

“The quickest way to solve this is to take a look at your car’s title.
The lienholder
, which is the same as your lender, should be listed on the car’s title. That’s who currently holds your loan. Call them and find out what’s going on. If the lienholder is different than what the dealer told you, it could be that the original lender denied your loan or backed out of it.
The dealer would then go with the next-best offer. Again, call the lienholder and the dealership; either should be able to help sort out the issue.
