How many points before my license is suspended in VA?
Can getting too many points suspend my license in VA? I get nervous about old speeding tickets coming back to haunt me because I’ve read about it happening to other people online.

Thankfully, you’ll only have to worry about tickets from the past couple of years if you live in Virginia. If you accumulate 12 points within 12 months or 18 points within 24 months, your license can be suspended in
. However, you can sometimes avoid suspension if you take a driver improvement class within 90 days.
If you get more than 18 points in 12 months or 24 points in 24 months, though, your license will be automatically suspended with no opportunity for avoiding suspension. The suspension will last for 90 days, and you’ll be required to take a driver improvement class as well.
