What should I do if my 2012 Hyundai Sonata dome light stays on?
The dome light in my 2012 Hyundai Sonata constantly stays on. It’s really annoying when I’m driving, and I’m fairly certain that it’s going to result in my car battery dying fairly soon. What can I do to fix the issue?

A faulty dome light that stays on in the 2012 Hyundai Sonata is a fairly well-documented problem, so don’t stress too much. Depending on your level of handiness and your budget, you can choose one of two options to fix the issue:
- Fix the dome light on your own. To do this, you can remove the dome light by prying it out with a screwdriver and unclipping the wiring harness. Once you have it removed, look inside to see where the switch moves. Then, you can either pry out any debris or put a piece of tape on one side of the contact to keep it from completing the connection.
- Buy a new dome light housing kit. Because the car is a bit old and doesn’t have any complex pieces, you can buy one for $30 to $40. This is the easiest and most effective way to solve the situation.
