What should I do if my 2005 Honda Odyssey’s sliding door won’t open

I’ve had my Honda Odyssey since 2005 and have never had an issue, but this weekend the sliding door on the driver’s side of the vehicle stopped working. What can I do to get it open?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing problems with your Honda! There are many reasons why your 2005
Honda Odyssey’s
sliding door won’t open, but the most common is that it needs to be reset.
Not to fear! This process can be a piece of cake. Follow these simple steps to reset your 2005 Honda Odyssey’s sliding doors:
  • Disable your Odyssey’s power doors using the dashboard switch located to the left of the steering wheel
  • Gently open your Odyssey’s doors manually as far as they will go
  • Turn your Odyssey’s power doors back on using the same dashboard switch
  • Close the doors using the car’s dashboard buttons or its key fob
That should do it! If your sliding doors are still not working after you’ve reset them, you could have a more significant problem on your hands. We recommend
taking your vehicle to a trusted mechanic
to diagnose the issue. Hope this helps!
