, just grab some WD-40 (you can also use petroleum jelly or plumber’s grease) and use it to lube up the metal mechanisms inside your car door frames. In most cases, your door latches will then loosen up and your truck will be able to recognize when its doors are closed. If using lubricant on your door frames doesn’t work, the next step is to try replacing your hinge pins. The hinge pin is a small rod that allows your door latch to function—and it can sometimes corrode over time. You can buy a new one at any auto parts or hardware store and try to replace it yourself, or bring the vehicle to a trusted mechanic.
