What modifications can be made that do not affect insurance?
I want to change my stereo system, but don't want to change my insurance rates. I'm paying a good price through Progressive. How can I avoid any changes to my rates with modifications?

company about any modifications to your vehicle. While it’s unlikely a paint job would impact your rates, it’s better to inform them now than later. In the event of a claim or accident, your car insurance company could
deny the claim
as they don’t know the modifications exist. For example, if you have an expensive sound system and don’t have
sound system coverage
, your insurance wouldn’t replace it if damaged. While you don’t have to have additional coverage to protect your modifications, your insurance should still be aware they exist.
