What does my car need to pass inspection in Missouri?

I just bought a used car in Missouri and I need to pass the state-mandated inspection. How do I do it?

Inspections are required on used cars in
Missouri
with more than 150,000 miles or that are more than 10 years old. If you need to get the vehicle to pass a safety inspection, you should make sure these things are in working order:
  • All turn signals and lights
  • Bumper height
  • Exhaust/emissions
  • Fuel system
  • Braking components
The exam will cost you no more than $12, and you can find an approved list of providers on the state’s website or shops that hang a state license to conduct inspections. An inspector will check the brakes, mirrors, glass, windshield wipers, suspension, and steering components, among other parts. If everything looks good, you should be able to tile and register your car without any problems. Remember that you’re also going to have to pay sales tax when you title the vehicle.
Since you’re getting a new car, you should also think about what car insurance policy you need. By using the
Jerry
app, you can compare dozens of rates at the touch of a button. Jerry even completes the paperwork for you, taking the hassle out of car insurance shopping.
