Great question! Looking for a
new car
can be a stressful process, but doing the research can help you make the most informed decision.
Most of the rechargeable batteries in
electric cars
are either
lithium-ion
or nickel-metal hydride batteries. Toyota models use both.
Nickel-metal hydride batteries function very similarly to lithium-ion batteries, but can withstand much harsher temperature changes, making them ideal for areas with colder climates. Lithium-ion battery technology is newer, smaller, and lighter than nickel-metal hydride batteries, but also is more expensive to produce.
While Toyota does not yet have a fully electric car available for sale, the company produces many hybrid vehicles that use this battery technology including the Prius, Camry, RAV4, Highlander, Sienna, and more.
The all-electric
Toyota bZ4X
will be available in 2023 and comes with a 71.4-72.8 kWh 355 V lithium-ion battery.
If you are thinking of getting an electric car, you’ll want a
car insurance
plan that delivers great coverage at a great price.
