What is the Michigan speed limit?

I’m headed up to Detroit to see a Tigers game. I’m going to drive, but I want to make sure that I don’t get a speeding ticket. What’s the speed limit in Michigan?

If you want to avoid a ticket in the Wolverine State, don’t exceed the maximum
Michigan
speed limit of 75 mph. Keep in mind that this speed limit is only on certain stretches of the highway that are away from urban areas. The speed limit can change as you approach more populated or trafficked areas, so pay attention.
The Michigan speed limit in other areas outside of the interstate are:
  • 70 mph on Michigan State Highways
  • 55 mph on county highways and all other major four-lane thoroughfares unless otherwise posted
  • 25 mph in a business district or residential area
  • 25 mph in school zones
