What is the legal driving age in Alabama?

My daughter is turning 16 soon and has been anxiously waiting to be able to get her driver’s license here in Alabama. Her father and I were considering buying her a used car for her birthday but are unsure if she will be able to get a license at her age. Can a 16-year-old legally drive in Alabama?
