What is the Jeep Patriot’s oil type?

Changing your own oil will definitely save a lot of money. The
Jeep Patriot
’s recommended oil type is usually SAE 5W-20 motor oil. Depending on the specific Jeep Patriot model you have, this may differ. Be sure to double-check with your owner’s manual for the correct oil type. It is important that you only use the suggested oil type to prevent damage to your engine.
The benchmark for oil changes is every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. However, you can also use the dipstick to monitor the engine oil. Here’s what you should look out for:
- Engine oil level: The level should fall between the two marks at the end of the dipstick. If it is below both lines, you will need to top up your oil. Do not mix conventional and synthetic oil.
- Oil color: New engine oil is amber in color. If your oil is dark and/or clouded, it is time to change the engine oil.
- Oil smell: If you notice that your engine oil smells unusual (ex: smoky or burning), it is time to change the oil.
- Other signs: Abnormal sounds from the engine or poorer vehicle performance can indicate that it’s time for an oil change.
