What is the highest reasonable amount of liability coverage I should have?

What liability policy numbers are the best? I'm willing to pay more for better coverage.

The general rule when purchasing
car insurance
is to purchase as much as you can afford. For most drivers, acceptable
liability car insurance
would be 100k/300k/100k.
Liability is broken up into two different types of coverage,
bodily injury liability
and
property damage liability
, and you will want adequate coverage for both. This means you have up to $100,000 per person with a $300,000 maximum limit per accident for medical payments, and up to $100,000 per accident for property damage.
Keep in mind, your insurance pays for more than just damaged physical property and medical bills! It also covers costs associated with the accident, such as legal fees, pain and suffering, and funeral costs just to name a few.
The higher the coverage limits, the less chance you’ll have to pay any out-of-pocket costs in case of an accident.
