What is the driving age in Oregon?

Help! My teenager wants to get a learner’s permit, but we’re new to the area and completely clueless about Oregon’s driver's license requirements. What’s the driving age in Oregon?

There’s no better feeling than when you get your license for the first time! The driving age in
Oregon
is 15 years old for a Provisional Instruction Permit.
Your child must complete a pre-application online first and then apply in person at the local DMV with all the appropriate documents. Once they pass their vision and knowledge tests, they’ll be issued an instruction permit. The knowledge test is based on the Oregon Driver Manual study guide that goes over the rules of the road and safe driving practices.
An Oregon instruction permit allows teenagers to operate a vehicle only if accompanied by a supervising driver in the front seat.
Your child can get a provisional driver license at the age of 16 after:
  • Having a permit for six months
  • Completing 50 hours of supervised driving experience and an approved driver’s education course OR 100 hours of supervised driving experience (without driver’s education)
  • Passing the driving test
After your teen gets their driver’s license, now you must decide if you want to get them their own car insurance or add them to
your current policy
