What is the cost to renew a driver's license in Washington State?
I just noticed that my Washington State driver’s license is set to expire in about a month. I know that the state raised the renewal fees a few years ago, so I have no idea how much they are now. What’s the cost to renew my driver’s license in Washington?

Washington
raised the rates for a driver’s license renewal in 2016, so you probably have renewed since the increase. As of 2022, the cost to renew a driver’s license in Washington State is $54.However, the price of renewal depends on whether you want to get a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, which is known as a Washington Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL). Since you will need this type of driver’s license to board domestic flights starting on May 3, 2023, springing for one is probably the better option.
If you opt for the EDL and you currently have a standard driver’s license, you will need to pay an additional $4 for every year of validity you still have left on your license. Since your current driver’s license expires in a month, you’ll pay just $4 more for a total of $58.
Important note: If you’re younger than 24 or older than 70, you must renew your license in person at a Washington Department of Licensing (DOL) location.
