What is the cost to renew a driver's license in Colorado?
I moved to Colorado a little less than five years ago and established residency. I have a Colorado driver’s license that I need to renew, but I’m certain that Colorado has raised its renewal rates since then. How much does it cost to renew a driver’s license in Colorado?

You’re correct about increased fees at the

DMV. In 2020, the state raised fees by about 10% across the board. Now, the cost to renew a driver’s license in Colorado is $30.87, up from $28 in June 2020.However, Colorado makes license renewal easier than almost any other state. You can apply:
- Online
- By mail
- In person at a local DMV
Once you apply, you should receive your new driver’s license in 10 to 14 days, but you may have to wait up to 30 days. Due to the length of time needed to get a new license, don’t wait until the last minute to renew.
Also, you don’t have to specifically request a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license. Colorado driver’s licenses have been compliant since 2012, making it one of the first states to adopt these federally mandated licenses.
