At just 98 horsepower, the Spark’s tiny 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine isn’t winning any speed contests, but it can go from 0 to 60 mph in a tolerable 10.8 seconds. Automatic transmission and 15-inch aluminum wheels come standard, and some basic driver-assistance technology—like forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking—are available for an extra cost. The Spark’s fuel economy is solid at 34 miles per gallon to boot.
The interior is a little tight but has comfortable seats and an attractive console. There are 11 cubic feet of storage space—which is more than enough room to hold your groceries and work bag. If you need more space, you can fold the rear seats down for a total of 27 cubic feet. Infotainment features include Bluetooth, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
