Does the Ford Flex have captain's chairs?
I just bought a used Ford Flex and was surprised to find that it didn’t come with captain’s chairs. I was sure it did. Do captain’s chairs come standard with the Ford Flex?

With the Ford Flex, captain’s chairs are optional for the second row. You’ll have to pay extra though and they do reduce the seating capacity from seven to six.
The Ford Flex was discontinued recently. The automaker cited poor sales and the intention to refocus on products in faster-growing segments. While the Flex was never a best-seller, it did gain fans who enjoyed its style and interior space. Unfortunately, a cult following doesn’t equate to sales in the auto industry.
You can still find some Flex models on the used car market. If one piques your interest, you should know some of its more notable specs:
- It’s a five-door crossover SUV
- Has a spacious interior that’s also versatile
- Available with all-wheel drive
- Comes loaded with lots of tech features
- Has a seating capacity of seven
Cons of the Ford Flex include:

- Many of its controls are not user-friendly
The NHTSA did give it an overall safety rating of **4 out of 5, so you should feel comfortable driving in a Flex even with a full load of passengers.
