What is the 2016 RAM 1500 oil type?

I have a 2016 RAM 1500 that I just bought. The previous owner told me that it was due for an oil change, so he knocked $30 off the price. I’m going to change the oil myself. What type of oil do I need for a 2016 RAM 1500?

Even $30 off the price of anything is money in your pocket! To change the oil yourself on a 2016
RAM 1500
, you’ll need the SAE 5W-20 oil type. This is the motor oil that RAM suggests, regardless of whether you have the 3.6-liter V-6 or the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 under the hood.
The only difference is that the 3.6-liter V-6 needs 6 quarts for an oil change while the 5.7-liter V-8 requires 7 quarts. Full synthetic motor oil is preferred, but you can also use a synthetic blend if you want to save some money.
Just note that full synthetic motor oil provides better performance and around 7,500 miles between oil changes compared to a blend, which offers a slight degradation in performance and fuel economy and only about 5,000 miles between oil changes.
