The location of a Chrysler’s paint code depends on the make and model of the vehicle, but most models produced after 2007 have theirs located on the driver’s side door jamb. For older Chryslers, check all door jambs and firewalls on both sides.
Coming back to your car only to find it scratched is never ideal, but it isn’t the end of the world—after all, a quick touch-up isn’t that difficult of a car repair
job to do yourself, right? All you need to do is buy some paint and…suddenly you realize you don’t know what color you need for it to match. That’s what the paint code is for—but first, you have to find and decipher it. That’s why licensed car insurance
super app Jerry

Unfortunately, Chrysler does not have a dedicated location for their paint codes across all makes and models, so you may have to go searching to find the label. Common places include the driver's side door jamb and passenger, middle, and driver's side firewalls.
Under the label’s barcode, you should find the letters PNT followed by a three-digit code made up of both letters and numbers. Once you have it, use this chart
to find your Chrysler’s exact color. If you can’t find the label, or would rather just verify before checking the entire vehicle, you can call Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997 and they should be able to help you locate the paint code for your make and model.
What if there’s no paint code on the car’s label?
If you’ve located the label but there's no paint code to be found, it may be that you have an older model Chrysler, in which case you’ll need to use the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to figure out what paint you need. It will appear as an alphanumeric sequence of 17 characters, unique to each vehicle.
Your Chrysler’s VIN can be found in these locations:
The left front corner of the instrument panel (visible through the windshield)
Stamped on the driver’s side door jamb
On your vehicle registration and car title paperwork
Where can I get paint for my Chrysler?
Now that you know your Chrysler’s paint code, it’s time to actually buy the paint. There are several sites online that allow you to enter the necessary information and quickly find the exact color paint you need, including Automotive Touch Up
and Touch Up Direct
. To a lesser extent, you may also find paint in-store at your local automotive shop—as long as you’ve got your paint code, your options are open.
Paint touch-up tips
Now that you’ve got your paint, it’s time to start the touch-up process. Check the tips below for easier painting:
Clean the affected area with soap and water
If the area is rusted, remove it using fine sandpaper or a wire brush
Apply a paint primer to any bare plastic or metal surface you want to paint and let it dry overnight. After the area has dried, lightly sand it to achieve a uniform surface.
Paint the damaged area with paint matching the rest of the car. Build up several layers and allow at least 20 minutes between coats. Allow for overnight drying of the final layer.
Using the same method you used to paint, apply a clear protective coat. Apply multiple layers and let them dry overnight.
Once three days have passed, buff the area with wax or another rubbing compound to make it shine!
Depending on the scale of touch-up work needed, you may not need to buy a full can of paint to do the job—a paint pen or small touch-up kit may be all you need and can be found at most automotive shops.
