What is the 2008 Kia Spectra oil type?
My dad owns a 2008 Kia Spectra that’s still in excellent condition. However, he’s asking if I can do the oil changes. What type of oil does it use?

uses a synthetic 5W-20 motor oil like Castrol - GTX 5W-20 High Mileage Synthetic Blend Motor Oil. Most vehicles don’t require synthetic oil, but if you want to improve engine performance and do oil changes less frequently, synthetic motor oil is the way to go.On top of changing the oil on your dad’s Kia, you may also want to check some other maintenance items to save a visit to the mechanic:
- Tire rotation
- Replace engine oil and filter
- Wipers and washer fluid levels
- Suspension components
- Steering linkage
- Power steering and fluid levels
- Exhaust system
- Battery, exterior lamps, and horn operation
- Turn signals and hazard warning lights
