Are sinkholes covered by home insurance?

I live in a part of Pennsylvania where sinkholes are common. I just purchased a new home and want to ensure I have the best protection on it. Will sinkholes be covered by home insurance?

Wanting the best protection for your new home is a smart decision, especially since sinkholes are common in
Pennsylvania
. That said, typically sinkholes are not covered by home insurance.
Sinkholes, landslides, earthquakes, or any other type of earth movement is excluded from standard
home insurance
policies. To have coverage for sinkholes, you’ll need to purchase a separate policy.
Sinkhole insurance isn’t available everywhere since most companies only offer it in areas with a high risk of damage. When offered, insurance providers will have endorsements or separate policies available to protect you and your home.
If you don’t have home insurance yet, be sure you shop around and review each policy’s terms, conditions, and exclusions. Every insurance company is different, so coverage varies. Knowing a policy’s coverages and exclusions before signing up is essential.
If you’d rather leave the hard work of gathering quotes to someone else, use
