First, congratulations on your new Mercedes
! As for your question, the answer is yes, Distronic Cruise Control (DCC) is different than traditional cruise control. Basically, DCC is a type of adaptive cruise control that uses cameras and radar to actively respond to your surroundings.
Mercedes Distronic Cruise Control isn’t very different from any other form of adaptive cruise control. Once you turn it on and set a cruise speed, it will maintain that speed just like traditional cruise control.
If a stationary or slow-moving object is detected in front of you, DCC will apply the brakes to reduce your speed until it has reached a safe following distance. When the obstruction is gone, DCC will accelerate back to the original set speed.
This technology allows you to use your cruise control without having to constantly set and reset it every time a car is ahead of you.
To set it, you’ll do exactly the same thing you would to set conventional cruise control.
