What is commentary driving?
I’m looking through driving course descriptions and most of them include commentary driving. What is the meaning of commentary driving?

Commentary driving is where your instructor will ask you to comment on everything you see while you’re driving. The objective is to help new drivers get used to looking around and paying attention to their surroundings.
Here are several benefits of commentary driving.
Trains awareness of surroundings
Commenting on the surroundings helps train your awareness while you’re driving. This includes watching for pedestrians, other cars, and/or obstructions on the road.
Develops anticipation skills
It’s important to be able to predict the behaviors of other drivers and pedestrians. Commentary driving would require you to mention what you expect to happen before the fact.
Evaluates students’ progress
Commentary driving also allows the instructor to evaluate how the student is progressing. The instructor can then guide the student if they are missing anything.
