So, I’m just curious, what is an ignition distributor? I heard someone mention that term and I’ve been trying to learn a little bit more about how my car works.

Great question! The ignition distributor is perhaps the most important component in your ignition system. It is a device responsible for transferring an electric current to the spark plugs in just the right order.
This, in turn, allows for the timed ignition process to proceed as intended, resulting in a successful engine start. Without a distributor, your car would not be able to start.
