Your 2012 Chrysler 200’s oil type is 5W-20 motor oil. It requires 4.6 quarts. Specifically, Chrysler recommends Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic Blend High Mileage 5W-20 Motor Oil.
Now that you’re a 9-to-5er, you’ll want to keep that Chrysler 200 in fighting trim in order to make it to work on time and get all that filing done. Here’s what you should know about motor oil and oil changes.
The 5W-20 motor oil your Chrysler 200 requires works well in high and low temperatures. Both the 5 and the 20 refer to the oil’s thickness, or its viscosity (as us car nerds like to call it).
The 5 means the oil’s viscosity will stay thin at really cold temperatures, and the W means winter. The 20 indicates that the oil stays thin and keeps flowing at relatively hot temperatures as well.
Synthetic blend motor oil contains better additives and ingredients than regular motor oil, so you should only have to change it every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. Synthetic blend motor oil will also be easier on your engine than standard oil.
Be sure to check your oil often. Motor oil should be amber or light brown, and it should have a smooth consistency. If your oil is black or dark brown, or if you smell burning oil or see smoke coming from the engine, change the oil!
Now that you know all that, there’s just one thing left to do—get filing!
