What does $50,000/$100,000 and $50,000 mean?
What do these insurance numbers mean? I live in Maine and am looking to switch insurance companies. I want the lowest amount of coverage possible as I need to save money.

The first two numbers are your
bodily injury liability
limits. $50,000 is your limit per person when in an accident. $100,000 is your per accident maximum.The third number represents your
property damage liability
limit. $50,000 would be your per accident maximum.In Maine, $50,000/$100,000 is the minimum amount of car insurance required for bodily injury. This means that every driver on the road is required to carry at least this amount of coverage. The minimum amount of property damage required is $25,000.
While it’s not recommended to carry
state minimums
, you could reduce your property damage liability. This would save you some money on your premium. To be properly protected, you should try to increase your coverage whenever possible.”
