How do you change the battery in a Honda Odyssey key fob from 2016?
I’m in the middle of a road trip to Washington, and my key fob stopped working. I’d like to replace it before I get back on the road. What’s the best way to change the battery in a 2016 Odyssey key?

Luckily, replacing a key fob battery is a quick process that shouldn’t set your schedule back too far.- Start by buying a new battery for your key fob. You can find out which type you need in your owner’s manual or on the back of your key fob.
- Push and slide the metal key release switch on your key fob.
- Pull out the metal key and use it to gently pry apart your key fob.
- Using the key, gently lift the dead battery from its slot.
- Insert your new battery in the battery slot. Make sure it’s in the same position as the old one. You can also use the + and – markers to guide you.
- Snap the fob back together, reinsert the physical key, and test out the fob!
If you’d rather not change the battery yourself, buy a new battery from a nearby Honda dealer. Oftentimes, they’ll offer to change it for you when you buy a battery.
