I have an older car that I use for commuting. Last night as I was on my way home, a dashboard warning light came on. What do Suzuki SX4 dash warning lights mean?
Description of light & color | What light may mean | When to go to mechanic |
---|---|---|
Engine icon; amber | Potential issues range from the less serious (a loose gas cap) to a failing emissions system. | If tightening your gas cap doesn’t take the light off, take your SX4 to a mechanic. |
Horseshoe-shaped icon with an !; amber | Low tire pressure | Check the tire pressure as soon as you can slow down. Do not continue to drive on one or more tires with low pressure. |
Person with a strap over their body; red | Seat belt not on | Put on your seatbelt, and the light should go off. |
Battery icon; red | Problem with battery and/or electrical system | Take to a mechanic ASAP as your Suzuki will eventually stop running if the problem is not addressed. |
Oil can icon with our without wavy lines underneath; red | Oil pressure is low | STOP driving as soon as you can and check your oil levels. If you add oil and the red light remains on, bring your Suzuki to a mechanic ASAP—you can wreck your engine. |
BRAKE letters or exclamation point (!) inside circles; red | Do not ignore. This indicates a serious problem with your brakes. | Safely stop the car. Tow to a mechanic if necessary. Do not continue to drive with brake problems. |
