What do I do if my Nissan Pathfinder won’t start in cold weather?
I’ve been noticing that my Pathfinder doesn’t like to start on cold winter mornings. The last time this happened I was late for work! What can I do to get the engine running?
won’t start in cold weather, but there is a maneuver you can try.
With your Pathfinder in park, start by pushing the ignition button or turning the key in the ignition (whichever applies to your model) while lightly pressing down on the gas pedal—just about ⅓ of the way down. If your Pathfinder’s engine doesn’t start after the first attempt, repeat this step a few times over.
As you do this, make sure you don’t hold the ignition for more than five or six seconds or you could risk damaging the starter. Once you get your Pathfinder started, allow it to idle for around 30 seconds.
Prevent a slow-starting or no-starting vehicle in cold weather by unplugging charger cords or plug-in navigational systems when the vehicle is not in use. Plugged-in devices slowly drain the car battery when the engine is off.
