Cool cars are definitely worth watching! The car that Brian O’Connor drives in 2 Fast 2 Furious is the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34).
This car was the first R34 that was imported and federalized by MotoRex. Although there were rumors that Paul Walker owned the car, it was in fact purchased by Craig Leiberman, F&F’s franchise technical director. He paid $78,000 for the car in July 2001, before the F&F sequel was slated to happen.
Four more GT-Rs were sourced from MotoRex to use for multiple stunt sequences. These stunt doubles (or stunt quadruples) were air-freighted from Japan. Since they didn’t need to be federalized, the studio saved $120,000 or so in additional costs!
